Legacy & Mission of Dallas Christmas Cheer
For over 50 years, Dallas Christmas Cheer has been dedicated to one simple, powerful mission: ensuring that children and families in need never go hungry during the holidays.
The program began with community member Curt Lamb, whose compassion and commitment to helping others inspired the first effort to provide holiday meals and gifts to local families in need. What started small quickly grew as members of the Dallas Volunteer Fire Department and other volunteers joined in to repair toys and gather meal items for about 50 families.
In 2000, Warren and Sue, along with their sons Scott and Eric, took on the responsibility of continuing this legacy, honoring Curt’s lifelong love for his community and his belief that no one should go without during the holidays.
Today, Dallas Christmas Cheer stands as a well-respected 501(c)(3) nonprofit led by a dedicated Board of Directors and committee members who remain committed to helping families facing food insecurity and hardship, ensuring the joy and generosity of the season reach every home.
Impact & Reach
Each year, Dallas Christmas Cheer provides holiday support to more than 500 local families, reaching approximately 1,500 individuals throughout the greater Dallas area.
Among those served are around 800 children and 100 senior citizens, ensuring that both the youngest and most vulnerable members of the community feel the warmth of the season.
Through partnerships with organizations like the Dallas Food Bank and Kindness Club, Christmas Cheer extends its reach even further, helping connect families with year-round resources and support.
Each family receives a food box filled with everything needed for a holiday meal, along with enough groceries to help stock their cupboards and refrigerator for at least a week.
Special care is also given to senior citizens who are homebound or without family support, making sure they are not forgotten and can share in the spirit of Christmas.
